We had the pleasure of visiting Spice House Cascade for Sunday brunch. Upon entry, we felt a mellow vibe, not only because we were the first patrons of the day but because the layout of the joint was so kickback and warming. The classic dishes had a flavorful Caribbean twist.
I know shrimp and grits are a mainstay on most menus and they do offer that but they also offer ox tails and grits which immediately grabbed our stomach's attention. They were braised perfectly falling off the bone the ox tails au jus meshed well with the creamy grits.
On to the second dish, a whole Red Snapper weighing in at 2 pounds, and wow we were amazed at the sight of that fish. The snapper was so moist and savory -- it was accompanied by black rice & peas which were delicious also.
Last on our table was the jerk chicken omelet with a side of cocoa bread. Let me say I think that cocoa bread should now be considered a breakfast bread on all menus! I loved the omelet it wasn’t super spicy at all.
There lies in the middle of Southwest Atlanta a Caribbean oasis with soulful vibes and great food. I definitely recommend this spot for couples, parties, or if you’re just on a solo mission. They have live entertainment during the week also. Stop by and give them a taste and let us know what you think.
